Description--Front	Photograph of damage from a break in the Erie Canal in Buchnell's Basin area. One man and one woman stand in distance, beyond the break damage, and in front of several buildings. According to research (see references) there have been several breaks in the canal in this area.
References	The earliest mention of a break in the canal near Bushnell's Basin (that this researcher could find) is dated 9/19/1853. Additional breaks in this area are mentioned on various websites as having occured in different years.
