My dear Miss Masterson:
I understand that the art critics in New York usually try to make the rounds of the different exhibitions on Monday or Tuesday of each week in order to prepare their copy for the next Sunday's edition of their respective papers.
My exhibition opens on Thursday, January 2, so unless other arrangements are made, whatever the critics may wish to say will probably not appear in the papers until the Sunday of January 11 which will be too late to have any possible effect either on sales or attendance at my show.
So I am writing to see if it will not be possible to have the press view my paintings, even if they are not yet hung, on Monday and Tuesday December 30 and 31. Then the notices or criticisms would probably appear in the Sunday papers of January 5 which would be immeasureably better for my exhibit.
Please let me know whether or not you think this can be accomplished.
I am sending you some photographs of a few of the paintings which will be shown and I have also written Mr. Peter A. Juley to make some additional ones for me to have in readiness if necessary. I have asked him to deliver these additional prints to you.

Unless it has been done otherwise I believe it will be better to print my name on announcements, advertisements etc. simply WARD LOCKWOOD, that is leaving off the initial "J". However this is not important.
