Thank you very much for the check of $10.00 and your letter regarding Mr. Sloan's painting, "The Lafayette". It is very kind, indeed, of you to offer to increase your subscription and we may take advantage of your kindness after all the contributions are in. There are several others of Mr. Sloan's friends who are going to contribute larger to make up a deficit if there is any , but we made this limit on account of the great number of students and artists whom we think would consider it a privilege to contribute.
