Force, 10 West 8th Street, Whitney Studios, New York City Dear Mrs. Force: I enclose a carbon copy of the letter which I have written to Mr. Sloan sending him the check for five thousand dollars. I endorsed the check payable to his order and I trust that that was the way you intended to have the matter close. Thanking you for the compliment and privilege extended to me. Sincerely yours [signed]Duncan Phillips DP.E P. S. I am returning the letters form the Metropolitan Museum as I think they should be filed by you with a note as to my having been honorary chairman of the Committee.
