Mr. Duncan Phillips,
1218 Connecticut Ave.,
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Phillips:
I have collected the full amount of $5000. for the painting by John Sloan which was presented to the Museum, and I am writing to ask if you will, as Chairman, send the check to Mr. Sloan for the committee. This will automatically bring the business of the Committee to a close. They have all agreed that you are the person to make this little gesture, and I am sure that if you could read some of the notes which accompanied the checks, you would be as pleased as we are.
With many thanks for all your kind offices, I am
Sincerely yours,
JRF:EF
P.S. I am enclosing a check to your order for $5000.
